Dean's Letter to Creative Arts Students

Thursday 27 November 2008

Dear Creative Arts students,

Re: Creative Arts subject availability 2009 and 2010

In accordance with the recommendations of the Academic Board Appeals Committee regarding the Creative Arts Student Grievance, please find below a list of available subjects in the Bachelor of Creative Arts, Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours), Diploma of Creative Arts and Graduate Diploma of Creative Arts Programs for 2009 and 2010. Please note that the subjects on offer in 2010 are still under consideration while we are seeking student feedback; a confirmed list will be available by 19 December 2008.

Creative Arts students who had not yet re-enrolled for 2009 as at 18 November 2008 were advised that the re-enrolment period will be extended until 12 December to provide students with the opportunity to consider the subjects on offer in 2009 and 2010. Students who have already re-enrolled still have the opportunity to review their subject choices for 2009. Please be sure to enrol by 12 December since enrolments after that date will attract a late enrolment fee.

I am pleased to advise you that the Faculty of Arts in conjunction with staff in the School of Creative Arts will also conduct one-on-one course advice sessions for Creative Arts students on the following dates to provide you with the support required to complete your degree:

Students with an Expected Completion Date in 2009 (including students intending to undertake Honours in 2009):
When: Wednesday 3 December from 10am-12pm (A-K Surnames) and from 2pm-4pm (L-Z Surnames)
Venue: Cecil Scutt, Room 227, 1st floor, Old Arts building

Students with an Expected Completion Date after 2009:

When: Thursday 4 December from 10am- 1pm
Venue: Cecil Scutt, Room 227, 1st floor, Old Arts building

Experienced course advisors will be available to assist students individually with their course and subject enquiries. Students unable to attend these sessions but requiring assistance with their course planning are encouraged to make an appointment on an alternative date through the Arts Student Centre on 13 MELB (13 63 52).

I am also pleased to advise that Rita Castania, Course Adviser in the Arts Student Centre and a former staff member of the School of Creative Arts with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Creative Arts programs, will be available to provide ongoing course advice to Creative Arts students in 2009. Rita can be contacted on13 MELB (13 63 52) or via email on (castania@unimelb.edu.au).

Should you have any questions relating to any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact Rita Castania or Joanne Ligouris, Acting Manager, Arts Student Centre on 13 MELB (13 63 52) or via email (j.ligouris@unimelb.edu.au).

I wish you all the best with your studies. If there is anything further the Faculty can do please do not hesitate to contact my office or alternatively to email me at (dean@arts.unimelb.edu.au).

Yours sincerely,
