Faculty of Arts: Arts Student Centre My Advisor

Careers and Employment in Arts

Arts students have access to careers assistance which is targeted to their issues. This includes both 1:1 Careers Consultations and 'Next Steps' information sessions and workshops.

Individual Careers Consultations

These appointments can be used to talk about career direction, work experience, job seeking, job applications or anything relevant to your career development. Appointments are available most days with Careers Consultants Diana Edwards or Kate Abraham.

Bookings

If you cannot find an appointment and the matter is urgent, you are welcome to email Diana Edwards who may be able to assist in some way.

These appointments are all conducted in the Arts Student Centre in Room 109A. Check in at Student Centre reception when you arrive.

Career Drop-ins

These are used for quick career questions including questions about application documents you are working on – for example, resumes, cover letters, selection criteria. No bookings are required – it's first come, first served.

There are two sessions scheduled each week specifically for Arts students (commencing week of 12th March):

Please Note: students from any course are able to attend Career Drop-ins at any Student Centre - check Careers Online for times and locations across campus.

Next Steps: Arts

Under Next Steps, a variety of seminars and workshops are available to assist you with career development. Some sessions are repeated regularly e.g. resume writing, while others coincide with what’s going on at different times of the year e.g. choosing majors, applying for Graduate Employment Programs.

The sessions are generally Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday lunchtimes. For details, check the Next Steps web page on the Faculty of Arts website.
