Job Search Intensive for recent Arts graduates

This program runs across two half-days and will provide recent graduates with information and strategies to assist with finding employment. The sessions will be run as informal seminars, with lots of time to ask questions and share ideas. There are two sessions each day with morning tea provided in the break.

Day 1:

  • Job options and job seeking strategies (what can I do with my Arts degree and how do I find job opportunities?) and
  • Job applications (how can I make the most of my skills and experiences in a written application).

Note: Although there will be input on possible  job types, you will get more out of the day if you have some ideas about the sort of work you are looking for.
For those who are unsure about this, consider making a Careers Consultation appointment to explore your options prior to attending. Bookings are made via Careers Online - search for appointments tagged for Arts students

Day 2:

  • Preparing for interviews (how do I prepare when I don't know what I'll be asked?)
  • Workshop: Practising interview skills

Tuesday 28th February
1 – 2pm

Arts Internship Information Session

All undergrads, particularly those considering the subject for 2nd semester 2012

This session will provide information about the Arts Internship subject which can be taken as either a 2nd or 3rd year elective within the Bachelor of Arts.

Internships which count towards your degree are structured and provide students with an opportunity to contribute as professionals within a workplace in a way that accords with their academic learning and development. As internships outside the curriculum can be difficult to find, this subject provides an excellent opportunity to gain professional work experience in a career field of interest.

The session will cover the structure of the subject, the assessment and the way in which placements are set up. We will also talk about the types of organisations where students have been placed, and the sorts of projects which they have undertaken.
