This scholarship is open to candidates enrolled in a graduate research degree in the field of history in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies. Candidates must be graduates of the University unless in special circumstances this requirement is waived by the Council. The successful candidate must complete a further two years study to be awarded this scholarship on the continuation of their enrolment at the University of Melbourne. The scholarship is payable in four installments over the two years. As there can be only one scholarship holder at a time, applications are called for when the scholarship is vacant.

- Any other information to support application that may assist the committee in making its decision

The judges' decision will be final and the University reserves the right not to award the prize in the event it is considered that no work of sufficient merit has been submitted.
