Background

This is an old scholarship set up in 1894 in the will of the Reverend David Kay in memory of his wife. This scholarship is awarded every two years and next awarded in 2014.

Conditions

Open  to students enrolled in the first year of a graduate research degree in the field of History in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies who were enrolled in honours in the discipline of History at the University in the year prior to their graduate degree.

Awarded to the graduate research student who achieved the highest weighted average honours year mark in the prior year.

Scholarship will be paid in 4 instalments. The first upon notification of the award and the remaining 3 at the beginning of each consecutive semester upon evidence of continued enrolment.

A scholarship report to be submitted prior to the final payment and subject to the approval of the head of the academic unit within the faculty of Arts responsible for the discipline of History.

The judges' decision will be final and the University reserves the right not to award the prize in the event it is considered that no work of sufficient merit has been submitted.
