Young Walkley Award nomination for student

Master of Journalism student Derrick Krusche has been nominated in the Student award category of the Walkley Young Journalist of the Year awards.

Derrick was nominated for a series of stories he wrote for CAJ publication The Citizen and for UniPollWatch, a cross-university collaboration that covered the 2014 Victorian state election.

Derrick's story 'Box jellyfish first aid guidelines stay put despite doubts over vinegar antidote' written for foundation subject 'Researching and Writing Stories', was published in The Citizen and The Cairns Post, as well as the Voice supplement of The Age. Other stories Derrick was nominated for include 'AFL contradicts Labor's line on games in Ballarat', written for UniPollWatch, and an interview with Libertarian Senator David Leyonhjelm.
