New News by the Centre for Advancing Journalism is the nation's leading forum for public discussion of the strengths and ills of journalism and the news media.

Where is journalism heading? How do we pay for it? And what are the most exciting innovations in the gathering and presentation of news? Hear from some of the brightest minds in the media at this three-day series of discussions and workshops on the present and future of journalism.

Held in partnership with The Wheeler Centre for Books, Writing and Ideas, the New News festival is a program of events about the future of journalism. It explores how to make the most of the opportunities - and deal with the challenges - of new media. It is about journalism as an act of engaged citizenship.

New News is presented in partnership with the Wheeler Centre and the Centre for Advancing Journalism at The University of Melbourne.

Please note: Details of the 2017 New News conference will be published on this website as soon as they become available.
