Early Childhood Strategic Media Initiative

In late 2010, the Centre for Advancing Journalism was contracted by the Centre for Community Child Health at the Royal Children's Hospital to research media coverage around early childhood development and journalists' understanding of the issues involved.

This project involved an in-depth analysis of media coverage of early years issues over the past two years, interviews with key journalists to ascertain their understanding of the issues, and the development of recommendations for a Strategic Media Initiative relating to these issues. The final report was submitted in November 2010.

This research was funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, via the Royal Children's Hospital. All enquiries about the research outcomes should be directed to Professor Frank Oberklaid, Director, Centre for Community Child Health, Royal Children’s Hospital at: enquiries.ccch@rch.org.au
