Beyond Access: the creative case for inclusive arts practice
In 2014, in partnership with The University of Melbourne, and with funding from the Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation, Arts Access Victoria undertook Beyond Access, a research project exploring the strengths artists with disability can bring to the creative process.
The project has revealed an astonishing breadth and scope of work produced through inclusive arts practice in Victoria, the US and the UK and has given us a vital platform to consider, promote and extend opportunities for people with a disability to make art with the power to redefine contemporary arts in exciting and innovative ways.
The resources produced through the Beyond Access project include an international literature review and video case studies about Victorian disability arts practitioners.
On Wednesday 12 November 2014, a one-day symposium was held at The University of Melbourne reflecting on the extraordinary creative practices of artists working in the multi-dimensional field of arts and disability.
