Film screening: Night Parrots
Monday, February 29, 2016 18:00 - 20:30
Environmental Humanities Research Group, The University of Melbourne
In the first of two film events this semester, the SCC Environmental Humanities Group will screen the forthcoming film, Night Parrots, and host a question and answer session with director Robert Nugent. This film documents a quest to locate the rare nocturnal desert dwelling bird, and it presents a range of ethnographic approaches while raising questions with respect to our fragmented and incomplete natural history archive, engagement with indigenous communities, and the ethics and aesthetics of representing more-than-human environments.
We will meet at 6pm, with a view to introducing, screening, and discussing the film before rounding up at 8pm. We have reserved space at The Clyde Hotel (corner of Elgin and Cardigan Streets - 2 minutes walk) for those of us wishing to socialise a little more.
