Live reading and discussion event: Tom Hart and Leela Corman

US graphic novelists Tom Hart and Leela Corman (who are a couple, and both make graphic novels) will be visiting Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney this November, partly to promote their books - Tom Hart's Rosalie Lightning (St Martins Press) and Leela Corman's Unterzakhn (Penguin/Random House) - and partly to run the inaugural Comic Art Workshop, a new Australian residency program for comic artists which Dr Elizabeth MacFarlane directs with graphic novelist Pat Grant.

Tom and Leela's story is an amazing and tragic one. Their almost-two-year-old daughter Rosalie died inexplicably in 2011. Tom's new book focuses on the weeks immediately following her passing, and is one of the most heart-rendingly beautiful books you'll read. Joyfully, they have since had a daughter, Molly Rose, who has just turned two and will be accompanying Tom and Leela to Australia.

Tom and Leela also jointly run the remarkable Sequential Artists Workshop, a groundbreaking institution for comic artists in Gainesville, Florida.
