Melbourne Engagement Grants success
I am very happy to announce that we were awarded three Melbourne Engagement Grants in the 2017 round. The successful grants were:
Prof Rachel Fensham, ‘Re-Tracing Dance Modernity in Australia’ ($20,000.00).
Dr Danielle Wyatt, Dr Dale Leorke, Prof Scott McQuire, ‘Identifying and mapping user-communities of the State Library of Victoria’s ‘Centre for Digital Living’ ($19,250).
Dr Maria Tumarkin, ‘Encounters with Writing Festival’ ($10,000).
The following two projects were judged to be ‘Highly commended’:
Dr Stephanie Downes and Dr Lisa Beavan, ‘Used Books: Material Texts in the Digital Realm, An Arts West Exhibition and Online Archive’.
Ms Louisa Lim, ‘The Little Red Podcast’.
Across the University there were 100 applications, of which 32 were funded – with a further group that the assessment panel judged ‘highly commended’. The quality of applications was impressive, and despite a 25% increase in grant funding this year, many strong applications could not be funded. There were 32 applications from Arts, of which 10 were successful and 6 were commended.
