Wesley Michel Wright Prize for Poetry awarded to Dr Linda Weste

Hearty congratulations to Creative Writing alumna Dr Linda Weste who took out the Australian Centre Faculty of Arts Wesley Michel Wright Prize for Poetry on the weekend for her amazing verse novel Nothing Sacred (Arcadia 2015).

Nothing Sacred evokes the lives of Clodia Metelli, Clodius Pulcher, Catullus, Cicero, Caesar, Caelius and Pompey during 66-42BCE, the final decades of the period late Republican Rome. And double congrats to Creative Writing doctoral student Ben Kunkler who, on the same day, managed to get married and take out the UoM Affirm Press Creative Writing Prize. Ben's novel in progress, Frankness deals with the trials and tribulations of an elderly trans man (Frank) catapulted into a conventional nursing home by his well-meaning children.

The Creative Writing program is thrilled to see your work acknowledged in this way.
