Industry Linked PhD Projects
Partner organisations may work closely with Faculty members in the development of industry-focused research projects, and can sponsor a PhD student (or occasionally a Research Masters student) to undertake research in an area of strategic value.
While industry-focused projects may vary in length and complexity, they all benefit from the engagement of graduate research students with high-level, specialised research skills.
There are several different ways for partner organisations to engage students in industry-focused research, including:
- fully funding an industry-focused PhD scholarship
- partial funding, together with the Faculty, an industry-focused PhD scholarship of mutual interest
- Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) Scholarships, available through the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage projects scheme. The ARC may provide funding to support a PhD student as part of longer-term or broader-based research project under the ARC Linkage Scheme.
All three options would provide a living allowance stipend for a PhD student to undertake this research. Tuition fees may be subsidised for qualified Australian citizens/permanent residents who meet the University's admission criteria.
