The Caroline Kay Scholarship (in History)
Old Scholarship set up in 1894 in the will of the Reverend David Kay in memory of his daughter.
Note: This scholarship is Awarded every 2 years on an even year so will be open for award again in 2012.
This scholarship is open to candidates enrolled in a postgraduate research degree in the field of history in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies. Candidates must be graduates of the university unless in special circumstances this requirement is waived by the Council. The successful candidate must complete a further 2 years study to be awarded this scholarship on the continuation of their enrolment at the University of Melbourne. The scholarship is payable in 4 installments over the 2 years. As there can be only one scholarship holder at a time, applications are called for when the scholarship is vacant.
Eligibility
The Scholarship is open to students who meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Honours and postgraduate students studying History at the University of Melbourne AND
- Must hold their Honours degree in Arts (unless in special circumstances this requirement is waived by the Council) OR
- Students who hold a BA and who wish to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (Historical Studies), (students wishing to do this in the first year of the Scholarship would not be excluded from selection).
- Open to local and international student of the University of Melbourne

- Proposed program during tenure of Scholarship
- Any other information to support application that may assist the committee in making its decision

The judges' decision will be final and the University reserves the right not to award the prize in the event it is considered that no work of sufficient merit has been submitted. Winning applicants please note the University of Melbourne reserves the right to publish the name of the winning applicant on its websites and other University of Melbourne publications.
