The George Andrew Bailey Memorial Medieval Travelling Scholarship
The George Andrew Bailey Memorial Medieval Travelling Scholarship is for the purpose of travel and associated costs relating to a graduate research project in medieval art history.
The scholarship has been named in honour of the late George Andrew Bailey and is available to Postgraduate students enrolled in:
- masters by coursework – art curatorship students
- masters by research
- phd students
who are currently undertaking studies in art history relating to the field of medieval art in the Faculty of Arts at The University of Melbourne.
Please note: Honours students are not eligible
Applicants can only apply online for this scholarship.
You must supply the following documents to support your application and can upload these into the electronic application form:
- Scholarship Budget Form
- Outline of proposed planned activities that will be undertaken through the Scholarship
- Current Academic Record
- One (1) academic reference
- Evidence of financial need and resources available, i.e. access to other financial sources (APA, GRATS, MATS/PORES, School)
- Any other information to support application that may assist the committee in making its decision.
Selection is based on graduate research projects combined with the grades they received in previous subjects – e.g. Subjects which might not necessarily have been in medieval art.

The judges' decision will be final and the University reserves the right not to award the prize in the event it is considered that no work of sufficient merit has been submitted. Winning applicants please note the University of Melbourne reserves the right to publish the name of the winning applicant on its websites and other University of Melbourne publications.
