About

The Guiseppina Patiti Tahiri Scholarship in Italian Studies is a new opportunity open to PhD or Masters by Research candidates in Italian Studies. Offered in 2018 and 2019, the scholarship is supported by Ms Fatima Tahiri, an alumna of the University of Melbourne.

The scholarship may be used to support: research related travel; attendance at academic conferences or seminars; course fees at an overseas institution; other activity deemed directly to support the applicant’s research, as determined by the scholarship committee.

Eligibility

  • Confirmed PhD or Masters by Research candidature in Italian Studies at the School of Language and Linguistics, University of Melbourne.
  • The scholarship may be used to support: research related travel; attendance at academic conferences or seminars; course fees at an overseas institution; other activity deemed directly to support the applicant’s research, as determined by the scholarship committee.

Conditions

Recipients are required to:

  • Accept award online within 21 days
  • Write two letters of appreciation to the donor/committee (upon acceptance and after completion)
  • Submit a final report

Outcome

Applicants will be advised of the outcome via email within 6-8 weeks after the closing date.

  1. A statement (approx. 500 words) clearly indicating how the award is likely to enhance your reseach project and graduate research experience
  2. Details of your research program and/or travel itinerary if applicable
  3. Current academic transcript
  4. Two academic references
  5. Any other information to support application that may assist the committee in making its decision
