Oxford Fellowship for Niro Kandasamy

History PhD candidate Niro Kandasamy has been awarded a Student Visitor Fellowship at the University of Oxford's Refugee Studies Centre.

Niro Kandasamy is a PhD student attached to Professor Joy Damousi’s ARC Laureate Fellowship on the History of Child Refugees. Niro’s research examines how forced migrants remember their childhoods in the homeland and resettlement setting.  It focuses on the experiences of Sri Lankan Tamils arriving in Australia from 1983-2000 drawing attention to their everyday lives as they navigated new and familiar spaces.

Niro will take up her fellowship at Oxford during the Trinity Term, from April-June 2018. She will be under the supervision of Professor Tom Scott-Smith.
