Each semester, the Faculty of Arts invites commencing graduate students to a variety of activities, where you can meet key staff and fellow classmates, learn about facilities and services, and start your degree off right.
Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (GSHSS) Orientation welcome
Tuesday 21 February 2017, 5 - 7pm,

For students commencing graduate coursework in one of the degree programs listed on the GSHSS Degrees web page.
Meet key academic and professional staff, learn about course planning, enrichment, and facilities, and hear about the student experience. An hour-long information session will be followed by a social reception where you can meet your new classmates and key program staff.
Graduate Research Orientation welcome
Wednesday 22 February 2017, 1 - 3pm
North Lecture Theatre, Old Arts (Building 149)
For students commencing graduate research in the Faculty of Arts.
Meet key academic and professional staff, learn about course planning, enrichment, and facilities, and hear about the student experience. An hour-long information session will be followed by an afternoon tea and visits to academic schools.
Solid StARTS Welcome Workshop

Go beyond the basics and start off your graduate studies with expert advice. This event comprises a number of helpful modules for new graduate students including the following:
- Information about LING90002: Presenting Academic Discourse
- Career and international experience advice from Global Leadership and Employability staff
- Library information for graduate coursework students in the Faculty of Arts
- Advice from senior academic experts with Assoc. Professor Timothy Lynch
- Welcome from the Graduate Student Association
- "Graduate Campus" tours led by Graduate Student Ambassadors
International students in particular will find this event a valuable addition to the evening Graduate School Orientation Welcome later in the week.
