Industry Projects is an exciting new subject that started in Semester 2, 2016. It is open to all 3rd year arts students. Students will work in teams with expert mentors from the Melbourne Writer's Festival to tackle a real business problem. At the end of the semester, students will pitch their solutions to an audience including representatives of the partner organisation, industry specialists, and peers.
There are three streams available:
Melbourne Writers Festival
The Melbourne Writers Festival is Victoria's winter celebration for readers, writers, and thinkers. It aims to attract the world's best writers and thinkers to create stimulating, meaningful moments that inspire lasting passion for reading and ideas.
1. Members Project
The Melbourne Writers festival has identified that a membership program may potentially provide an additional income stream to the business as well as deepening audience and donor engagement. Students in this stream will assess and advise on the feasibility of a membership program.
2. Digital Archiving Project
The Melbourne Writers festival has amassed an extensive archive of analogue, digital audio, and video recordings of festival events. However, little is understood about the breadth or quality of the content. Students in this stream will leverage this extensive collection to provide advice on how it can be managed and utilized.
Pravah is a leading Indian not-for-profit organization which works with and for young people to promote youth leadership and impact social justice issues. This includes providing Creative Media fellowships, national and international learning opportunities, capacity building workshops, and creating public platforms for youth engagement.
3. Impact Assessment Project
In order to help Pravah build its Youth Intervention Function, students in this stream will conduct an impact assessment to capture stories of change of around 25 young leaders who have engaged with Pravah.
