Prof. Salvatore's research activity over the years has covered multidisciplinary aspects of photochemistry applied to molecular and supramolecular systems and nanomaterials, through the study of photoinduced processes in a variety of organized architectures including cyclodextrins, micelles, vesicles, proteins, DNA, nanoparticles and thin films. Currently, it mainly focuses on the design and implementation of lightactivatable nanoconstructs (molecular hybrids, nanoparticles, gel and thin films) for therapeutic and imaging applications, with particular emphasis on nitric oxide photodelivery, photodynamic therapy and their combination.
