In collaboration with members of Melbourne Community Gamelan, Pak Sutanto Mendut will share insight into the history and philosophy of the gamelan and Javanese music and performance. A night of humour, knowledge and deep insight into gamelan that will be of interest to those new to and experienced in the form.

Sutanto Mendut
Pak Sutanto Mendut is a renowned musician, artist, philosopher, lecturer, journalist, and cultural leader. He is the instigator of Festival Lima Gunung (Five Mountains Festival), a famous communitybased festival from the mountain areas north of Yogyakarta that over the last two decades has fostered new connections between customary and contemporary genres in the region.
