A new milestone in cooperation – Indonesia and University of Melbourne

A new milestone in cooperation between the University of Melbourne and Indonesia is being marked with the establishment of PRIME – Partnership in Research Indonesia and Melbourne.

PRIME will facilitate research and academic cooperation in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Science, addressing some of the major challenges confronting the world today.

On Wednesday 31 March, the Indonesian Minister for Research and Technology, Professor Bambang Brodjonegoro, and the University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor International, Professor Michael Wesley, came together in an online ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Agency for Research and Innovation of the Republic of Indonesia; the University of Melbourne; and Universitas Indonesia.

The official signing was followed by a short address by Professor Wesley, and Dr Anita Horvath, an academic lead from the University, presented a short seminar on health research in Indonesia.

The University has a long history of collaboration and strong partnerships with leading universities in Indonesia.

This new partnership will deepen our relations further and help achieve the University's aspiration to lead the expansion of educational and academic cooperation between Australia and Indonesia.
