Bianca Williams

Research Centre Manager

Bianca Williams is a Ngemba woman living and working on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung peoples of the Kulin nations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Indigenous Studies and a Master's in Justice and Criminology from RMIT. Her minor thesis, 'Policy Making and Criminalisation in New South Wales: Unraveling the Web of Coercive Control’ explores coercive control as a complex and contentious problem, wherein criminalisation raises questions concerning individual autonomy and the disproportionate impact on First Peoples women who already face state intervention from the legal system.

At the University of Melbourne, Bianca has tutored in the Indigenous Studies program -Indigenous Treaties and Titles and Aboriginal Women and Coloniality and been the co-lead discussant for the ISRC's critical reading group. Bianca also has a background in finance working in the field for over a decade before joining the University of Melbourne.
