Master of Journalism student Bec Zajac, alumna Anita Dutka and editor of The Citizen Simon Mann have received nominations for Our Watch Awards in the 'All Media: best local/community journalism' category.

The Our Watch Awards recognise and reward exemplary reporting of violence against women. These nominations come for stories that originally appeared in centre publication The Citizen.

Ania Dutka was nominated for her story 'Sports gender: how local councils are leading in the campaign to prevent violence against women' and Bec Zajac was nominated for the story 'Power and gender: how schools are taking a lead in the campaign to end violence against women'.

The Our Watch Award nominations come after the Centre for Advancing Journalism recently announced the launch of pioneering research into media coverage of violence against women.
