The Citizen highly commended at JERAA 2017

The Citizen, the student publication of the Centre for Advancing Journalism, has received a high commendation at the 2017 Ossie Awards.

Editor Jo Chandler was present in Newcastle to receive the commendation.

The Ossies are awarded annually by the Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia (JERAA).

This is the third time that The Citizen has been recognised at the Ossies. In 2016 it was the winner of the Best Student Publication Award, and received further commendation in 2013.

Student journalists writing for The Citizen have also been successful at The Ossies in the past. Jack Latimore took home the Indigenous Reporting prize in 2016, while Buffy Gorrilla was awarded Best Audio Story the same year.
