CAJ submits to parliamentary inquiry on democracy in Asia Pacific

The Centre for Advancing Journalism has lodged a submission to the parliamentary inquiry into supporting democracy in the Asia-Pacific region, held by the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade.

CAJ director Andrew Dodd, senior lecturer Jo Chandler and lecturer Liam Cochrane wrote about the importance of media freedoms and public interest journalism for sustaining democracy. The submission was also assisted by Deborah Nesbitt. They made recommendations for the government to support education and training for journalists, enable open media policies, and promote Pacific voices, public interest and climate journalism.
