AT3 - Arts Thesis in Three Minutes
Tuesday, June 7, 2016 16:30 - 18:30
AT3 is a new Faculty of Arts competition designed to prime graduate researchers to compete in the larger 3MT® (Three Minute Thesis) competition. 3MT® is a University-wide and nation-wide research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ).
Like 3MT®, but at a local level, AT3 gives Faculty of Arts PhD students three minutes each to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. Like 3MT®, AT3 is not an exercise in trivialising or 'dumbing-down' research, but challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience.
AT3 will take place on Tuesday 7 June 2016 in the William Macmahon Ball Theatre, Old Arts (Building 149), from 4.30 to 6.30pm.
A two-hour training session for participants, led by staff from the Centre for the Study of Higher Education, will be offered in the week prior. Competing in this local event means that you'll have refined your presentation and be primed to shine in the University-wide 3MT®, which will get underway with a first set of training sessions offered later in June. Polish your skills, meet a network of peers, and be in to win the grand prize!
Application deadline: 9am Friday 20 May 2016
