Shannon Carter – Bachelor of Arts (Honours)

While studying for his honours thesis focused on the principles of applied racial justice, Shannon Carter was managing difficult personal circumstances.

Juggling family health issues, caring for family members and unexpected debt, he nearly gave away his honours year to focus on full-time work.

“It was really crippling,” he says.

Shannon’s situation changed for the better when he came across the 110 Scholarship while looking for financial options to support himself while studying, and is frank about the positive impact the scholarship made.

“I didn’t have to worry about having enough money for Myki, or food,” Shannon says.

The scholarship also allowed him to halve his casual work hours and relocate to a more study-friendly environment.
