Keynote lecture to be delivered by Professor Clara Tuite at upcoming 'Don Juan at 200' event, DePaul University, Chicago, 18-19 October 2019

Byron's Don Juan: A Romantic Bicentennial Symposium

Co-hosted by the Keats-Shelley Association of America and The Byron Society of America, 'Byron's Don Juan: A Romantic Bicentennial Symposium' will celebrate the 200th birthday of the first publication of Don Juan, published anonymously in 1819. The conference will bring together scholars from a wide range of backgrounds to explore the origin of Byron’s poem and its cultural value in the 21st century. Professor Tuite will lead the symposium alongside Jerome McGann, Alice Levine, and Peter Graham.

Professor Tuite's 2015 book, Lord Byron and Scandalous Celebrity (CUP), was awarded the Elma Dangerfield Prize by the International Association of Byron Societies. She is currently editing Byron in Context, forthcoming in 2019 with Cambridge University Press.
