SYMPOSIUM: Sublime Sea: Rapture or Reality?

Hosted by the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery with a linked exhbition, this symposium will feature art historians, social scientists, writers and scientists discussing how art has shaped our interpretation of the sea.

Honorary research fellow, curator, and research associate of the ERCC, Dr Vivien Westwood has put together a fascinating list of speakers to complement an extraordinary exhibition on cultural responses to the sea, including:

- Professor Emeritus Iain McCalman, AO, FAHA, FASSA, University of Sydney, former Co-Director of the Sydney Environment Institute
- Dr Ted Gott, Chevalier, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Senior Curator, National Gallery of Victoria
- Associate Professor Alison Inglis, Art History and Curatorship, University of Melbourne
- Dr Tim O’Hara, Senior Curator of Marine Zoology, Museum Victoria
- Dr Vivien Gaston, Curator of Sublime Sea, Honorary Fellow, University of Melbourne
