Before the ideas we now define as Romanticism took hold the word 'atmosphere' meant only the physical stuff of air. Afterwards it could mean almost anything. Tom Ford's new book traces this shift of meaning back to its first occurrence in the poetics of William Wordsworth, before going on to ask what the poems of the Romantic period now mean for us in a time of climate change.

Join us for critical responses to Ford's book from two leading scholars of literature and culture, followed by audience Q&A with the author.
