Join the Faculty of Arts for an interactive Q&A with a recent graduate!

At this event we’ll be asking your questions to Bessie Byrne (BA Communications and International Politics and Masters of Journalism) and Shane Tas (PhD).

Bessie is currently the Business Development Coordinator at Youthworx where she is responsible for overseeing all video production projects and attracting and maintaining clients. Bessie also works as an Assistant Producer at GoodThing Productions where she helps coordinate the impact campaigns for feature documentaries.

She is currently working on 2040 (2018) and The Australian Dream (2019). Bessie has produced many independent documentaries, including Tunnel Vision (2016) which screened at festivals internationally and is now being made available to students as an educational resource.

Bessie is a co-founder of Brunswick Friends of the Forest and has previously worked any volunteered at many ENGOs. She was one of the organisers of The Environmental Film Festival of Australia.

Shane is Senior Policy Advisor, Masculinities, at Our Watch. In this role he has developed a number of resources to assist in understanding and challenging the links between dominant forms of masculinity and violence against women. Shane also advises on, and helps develop policy responses, campaigns and practice resources relating to masculinities and engaging men in violence prevention efforts. Prior to his role at Our Watch, Shane completed an arts PhD at the University of Melbourne where he taught and lectured in the gender studies program.
