Studying listening test-takers’ response processes: challenges and opportunities
Date: 25 May 2021
Presenter: Dr Franz Holzknecht
Summary
In this talk, Dr Franz Holzknecht outlined two large-scale studies on listening test-takers’ response processes which utilised techniques common in other validation research, such as eye-tracking and mixed-effects modelling.
Response processes – definition
“The mechanisms that underlie what people do, think, or feel when interacting with, and responding to, the [test] item or task and are responsible for generating observed test score variation.”
