Education with Muslims

A series of professional learning workshops for Australian teachers, focusing on Islam and Muslims in a school context

Education with Muslims was the first collaboration between National Centre for Contemporary Islamic Studies and the Australian Curriculum Studies Association (ACSA) to deliver a series of professional learning workshops for Australian teachers, focusing on Islam and Muslims in a school context. Funded by the Myer Foundation, Education with Muslims looked at the ways forward with Muslim students in Australian schools as well as helping schools engage with local Muslim communities.

The first workshop was launched in Melbourne, in May 2009. Repeat workshops were run in Melbourne and Sydney in 2009. The workshops were facilitated by Dr Eeqbal Hassim, an Islamic and diversity education expert, and Jennet Cole-Adams, an experienced curriculum developer.
