Bringing Muslim perspectives into Australian schools
Following on from Education with Muslims in 2009, NCEIS and the Australian Curriculum Studies Association (ACSA) collaborated to deliver a professional learning workshop for Australian teachers called Learning from One Another: Bringing Muslim Perspectives into Australian Schools in 2010. The workshop is based on the teacher's resource with the same title published by NCEIS. The resource was written by Dr Eeqbal Hassim, an Islamic and diversity education expert, and Jennet Cole-Adams, an experienced curriculum developer.
Learning from One Another workshops were conducted by Hassim and Cole-Adams in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Hobart, and Geelong (VIC). Over 500 educators participated in these workshops in total.
This initiative was generously funded by the Myer Foundation and supported by state departments of education in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory.
