Funded PhD Position in Media and Communications - Express your interest
The position is full time and supported by a scholarship. The successful applicant will pursue an independent PhD research project under the supervision of project leader, Professor Mark Davis.
Applicants should be highly motivated with demonstrable research skills and academic experience, including a previous focus on online extremism and media, to undertake a self-contained project on a topic closely aligned to the main research project, on an aspect of online extremism and the media in Australia. The successful applicant will be expected to conceive the project and undertake research into forms of online extremism related to race and/or gender, with a focus on communicative aspects such as, but not limited to, the discourse and ideology of online extremists, extremism, digital platforms and social media, the relationship between extremism, media and populism, or the connections between extremism and mainstream media and politics. The research will focus on Australian groups with the understanding that this will necessarily involve canvassing the transnational connections and influences of Australian actors.
Your expression of interest should consist of a one page preliminary research proposal (A4, 12pt type; a full research proposal will be required from the successful appplicant), relevant academic transcripts, and a CV.
