Modern Slavery, Fashion and Consumer Awareness research and online survey
As part of a 2020 Strategic Project in collaboration with the Faculty of Business and Economics, Critical Fashion Studies co-founders Professor Natalya Lusty and Dr Harriette Richards are undertaking research into consumer awareness around modern slavery in Australian fashion. This research investigates how people find information about where, by whom, and how their clothes are made – and why they seek out this information. The study aims to understand the different factors that go into clothing purchase decision-making, what information helps in this decision-making and how questions of ethics and sustainability factor into these choices.
Professor Lusty and Dr Richards are currently recruiting participants to complete a short (10-20 minute) online survey as well as Australian-based interview participants to discuss these questions in more detail via video chat (20-30 minutes). The survey closes on 31 July 2020.
