Introduction to NVivo for Qualitative Researchers

In light of the emerging COVID-19 situation and continuing policy statements from the State and Federal Government, the University is adopting a series of changes to reduce rates of infection in the community. The health and wellbeing of our community is of paramount importance. Therefore, all University events have been postponed or cancelled from midnight, Tuesday 17 March. Thank you for your understanding as we endeavour to keep our community members safe during this uncertain time.

In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of the digital qualitative research tool NVivo. If you've ever struggled to make sense of your data, or it's getting a bit too messy, then NVivo might just be the tool for you! If you’re using interviews, news articles, speeches, images, or videos, then you’ll want to have a look at NVivo.

In this two hour workshop, you’ll learn how to import and manage your files in NVivo. Then, you'll learn how to code (no not that kind of coding) your files. Then, you'll learn how to code cases so that you can refine your analysis. By the end of this workshop, you will know how to get started with NVivo, and where it can take you throughout your research.

Please bring a computer with a copy of NVivo 12 installed. Instructions for students to access NVivo can be found on the Software with licence keys web page.

Staff can access NVivo by logging a Service Now request. Please allow a bit of time for these requests to be processed.

This workshop is part of the Introduction to Data Analysis Tools workshop series developed by the Digital Studio and the Sociocultural Informatics Platform (SCIP).
