Project description

This project creates new ways of visualising and accessing Ralph Reid's Australian Family Histories: A Bibliography and Index. In the open-access spirit of Reid and the wider family history community, we are exploring how to create new pathways into the index and the collections it covers using tools from the digital humanities. This project serves as an ode to Reid's bibliographic work and as a study of the possible lives of pre- and early digital resources. The project is co-led by Ashley Barnwell (Faculty of Arts) and Tom Vasey (State Library of Victoria). Digital Studio Intern Xiaofang Yao created code and used the Trove API to enrich the dataset and explore creative possibilities for visualising the data on an open-access platform.

Want to get involved with the Digital Studio internship program? We welcome applications from research students to undertake the internship, and from academics and external organisations interested in hosting an internship and supervising an intern.
