New Caledonia Intensive July 2019

A group of our lucky undergraduate students have been escaping winter in style, spending time in New Caledonia as part of the New Caledonia in the 21st century intensive, offered by the School of Languages and Linguistics.

The subject teaches students about how modern realities have changed what life is like in the Pacific region. They spent time with several indigenous communities – learning about their language, history and how they interact with tourism and industrialisation.

The subject was supported by the New Colombo Plan, with special thanks to the active contribution of the General consul of Australia in Noumea, Paul Wilson; and subject coordinator Diane de St Leger.
