Rebecca Hume is the ISRC visiting scholar from Ryerson University in Toronto. Funded through the Mitacs Globalink Research Award, she is helping out with research projects on treaty. As an MA candidate in Communication & Culture, her work explores how reconciliation discourse functions in governmentissued news documents to reproduce settler colonial logics of assimilation, and particularly how this fraught concept of reconciliation is used in land claims settlements and selfgovernment agreements to ensure ongoing occupation of land.
