Evaluation of Geared4Careers Youth Employment Program

This evaluation examined the program’s implementation, delivery model, and overall impact across participating schools.

The Australian Welfare and Work Lab are proud to present findings from an evaluation study of Geared4Careers Youth Employment Program. Geared4Careers is an early intervention program supporting young people in regional Victoria to stay engaged in school and transition into further education or employment. This evaluation examined the program’s implementation, delivery model, and overall impact across participating schools. The program is embedded within secondary schools, enabling accessible, tailored support for students navigating education and employment pathways. Operating independently through a social enterprise funding model, Geared4Careers has expanded across rural and regional Victoria since its establishment in 2011. Given the level of disadvantage experienced by the participant cohort, evaluation outcomes are particularly noteworthy, comparing impressively to broader population benchmarks.
