This policy report is the first of two reports that will be produced as part of this project. This report provides an analysis of the current state of relations between the EU and Australia. It places engagement in the context of past challenges and achievements, while identifying key areas of cooperation, and opportunities for enhanced interaction. It will be of use to those interested in the EU's relationship with third countries and Australia's engagement with the EU. It is oriented towards EU officials and Australian government officials working on EU-Australia relations; media; industry and civil society engaged with the EU and Australia; the academic community; as well as the interested public.
The report will also be of interest to specialists on Australian and EU foreign and security policy and trade, as well as a range of other policies. The second policy report will be produced at the conclusion of the project and will focus on presenting policy recommendations for the future development of EU-Australia relations.
