Planning for inclusion
This project is investigating how best to build the capacity of community organisations, so they are better equipped to support people with intellectual disability in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Overview
The current pilot is led by the Inclusion Melbourne Design Lab, and focuses on the Vietnamese community in the Brimbank area.
The project brings together people with intellectual disabilities and their families from the Vietnamese community, together with community leaders. At applied purposes is to ensure that people are aware of and connected to the services to which they are entitled, and can confidently take their place alongside other Australians - participating in mainstream community events, activities and opportunities.
The project is being implemented consistent with the principles of co-design and is producing a range of consumer relevant content.
Outcomes
A series of community of practice meetings are being conducted and a report is currently in preparation. The report will provide a blueprint for how such CALD communities of practice might be developed and implemented in support of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
