Australia and the European Union: Towards New Paradigms symposium

Australia and the European Union (EU) are at a significant moment in their engagement, with shared values and concerns and enhanced partnerships.

This symposium aims to develop a deeper understanding of how the relationship between Australia and the EU might progress in the context of the comprehensive Framework Agreement; the commencement of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement; and cooperation across a range of policies and in the region.

This symposium provides an opportunity for participants to contribute to strengthening dialogue on the core challenges and opportunities in the relationship. The sessions will cover:

  • Assessing the Framework Agreement: Towards a Strategic Engagement?
  • Towards an FTA: Priorities and Implications within a Global Context
  • Australia’s relationship with the EU and the UK in the context of Brexit
  • Regional Engagement
