2017 Ian Robertson Travel Prize for Michael Francis
The 2017 Ian Robertson Travel Prize has been awarded to History PhD student Michael Francis.
The prize will support Michael’s research travel to Rome, where he will spend three weeks reviewing collections in the Propaganda Fide Historical Archive. This research will be part of Michael’s doctoral thesis examining the relationship between the Catholic Church and the Commonwealth Government in the formation of policies affecting the lives of indigenous Australians in the Northern Territory from 1900 to 1950.
The annual Ian Robertson Travel Prize commemorates the outstanding contribution to the research culture of the department of History of Ian Robertson, senior lecturer in the department from 1961 to 1967.
