When author, artist, aviator and political spouse Maie Casey (1891-1983) died in 1983, more than her body was buried. She was physically interred at Macedon with her late husband, the diplomat, politician and vice-regal representative Richard 'Dick' Casey (1890-1976), and a memorial service was held at Christ Church, South Yarra, on Australia Day 1983. The memorial service, shaped by Dick's devoted longtime secretary Connie Hauser, was a crucial act in the erasure of the intimate history of another of Maie's relationships nearly as durable as her half century-long marriage to Casey. Hauser's impact on the Casey historiography is considered in this seminar.

This is part of the inter-university Melbourne Feminist History Group seminar series.
