Bringing back Indigenous languages from scraps of paper

The Bates Online Project will be launched by Dr Clint Bracknell at the National Library (Parkes Place, Canberra, ACT 2600) on June 12

Daisy Bates organised the collection of many Western Australian Indigenous vocabularies from the early 1900s onwards. For the first time, this collection is accessible and searchable online, the contents no longer confined to papers housed inside collecting institutions. The Bates Online Project presents 21,000 pages of vocabularies from this collection as images linked to some 4,000 pages of typescript.

Tuesday 12 June, 4pm Conference Room
