Indigenous cadet working to preserve Dja Dja Wurrung language
Harley Dunolly-Lee is a young Dja Dja Wurrung man working on relearning and reviving his language. A linguistics and archaeology student at Monash University, Harley joined the Research Unit for Indigenous Language (RUIL) in August as part of the Faculty of Arts Indigenous cadet program.
"The whole idea behind the project is to bring the language back. I'm learning it now and it’s so hard learning it on my own. I’m trying to teach people but we need more people who speak it," says Harley.
