Call for papers

'A Profound Reorganising of Things' International Conference 2023.

Call for paper submissions have now closed.

‘A Profound Reorganising of Things' will delve into how contemporary injustices are enmeshed in colonial power relations, focusing on the co-constitutive relationship between climate change and colonialism.

We welcome proposals for papers, workshops and creative contributions that explore these broad topics:

  • Sovereignty, Country and climate
  • Flood and fire, food and medicine
  • A profound reorganising of relations to land (and each other).
  • Economy and innovation – renewable energy on Country
  • Climate justice, climate and justice
  • Futures, futurity and the next generation

Submission Guidelines

The conference aims to spark the imagination, encourage dialogue and showcase critical scholarship.

There are several ways to participate:

  • We invite abstracts of up to 250 words for papers that present contemporary research on any of the conference themes (20-minute presentation).
  • We invite proposals for workshops or roundtables that engage with the conference themes (90 minutes).
  • We also invite creative contributions in the form of music, dance, poetry, visual arts and other formats.

For all submissions please include:

  • Name of presenter, position, and contact details.
  • Institutional affiliation
  • A short bio (150 words) for all authors/presenters
  • The theme with which your proposal engages
  • Whether you are proposing a paper, a workshop/roundtable, or a creative piece.

Participants will be required to present in person.
